NATIONAL JEWISH OUTREACH PROGRAM’S
SHABBAT ACROSS AMERICA/CANADA 2007 SCHEDULED FOR MAY 4TH
NEW YORK, NY; April 15, 2007 –
WHAT: The National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP) announced today the launch of its 2007 Shabbat Across America/Canada program. This acclaimed, continent-wide program allows practicing and non-practicing Jews alike to get together and experience an interactive Friday night Beginner’s Service and traditional Friday night meal with all of the rituals explained. Shabbat Across America/Canada represents a united effort by the Jewish community to renew interest in the fourth of the Ten Commandments, observing a weekly day of rest (Shabbat in Hebrew.)
WHEN: Friday, May 4th 2007

WHY: Shabbat Across America/Canada program is the first nationally orchestrated program to appeal to members of all major Jewish denominations. It is also the first and only such program aimed at united Jews across the United States and Canada in one event.
WHO: Shabbat Across America/Canada has attracted more than a half a million participants in the last decade. The program is designed for Jewish men, women and children interested in experiencing how to turn Friday night into Shabbat! This year, NJOP expects more than 75,000 participants.
